As most of us know, weekend soccer tournaments have become in large part, a tradition that the club soccer world has taken by storm. Clubs with often deeper pockets and pressure to provide “more” to parents tend to swallow up much of the field space, time and wind up controlling a large portion of the brackets for many tournaments across the country. As a result it is often a rarity that many town clubs and organizations look to enter these types of tournaments out of fear that they wont be “competitive enough” or that it will be “too competitive of an environment”.

While we take pride in our beliefs that youth sports are not about results on the score board we also believe that our players should be open to accepting challenges and facing them head on. The Needham Memorial Day Tournament offers NSC teams that exact opportunity as we face many of these clubs head to head and present many of our teams with a chance to showcase just how competitive and talented we can be!

This year was once again no different as come Monday morning we had 9 teams competing in the semi-finals! With 8 of those teams advancing to the finals later that day, NSC finished the weekend with 5 championship trophies that will remain in Needham for good!

Beyond all the success on the scoreboards everyone involved in the weekend overwhelmingly reported having a great experience! Players got to see rapid improvement, confidence building, friendships cementing and a love for the beautiful game grow in all the hours spent together over such a short period of time! Bottom line, the Needham Memorial Day Tournament weekend proved to be a tremendous experience for everyone involved.
