Director of Coaching
August 8, 2017: The Needham Soccer Club is pleased to announce its new partnership with the New England Revolution Academy. As part of the new partnership, we will be adding a new Director of Coaching: Matt Murray (pictured above). In addition, we will be supplementing our volunteer coaches with Revolution Academy coaches to lead training sessions and clinics that will benefit all NSC players who participate in our town and travel programs.
We also want to thank our departing Director of Coaching, Mark Beaumont, for his commitment and contribution to the club and its players over the past several years. The Needham Soccer Club’s board and members wish Mark well in his future endeavors.
About Matt
Born and raised in Canton Mass, Matt grew up playing soccer all over the New England area. As a youth player, he played for multiple clubs and later attended Canton High School where we was a 4-year varsity starter, 2-time Captain and winner of numerous league and state honors. After high school, Matt attended Keene State College and played for the Owls.
Coach Matt began his coaching career in Canton as an assistant in 2014 for the CHS boys varsity soccer team. He then joined the Boston Rams FC as the boys U17 head coach. Shortly thereafter, the Revolution Academy hired Matt to coach in their Development Programs. Matt has also worked as an assistant head coach and head of recruiting for men’s soccer at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he hopes to remain working while with NSC.
We know both Matt and the New England Revolution are extremely excited to start their partnership with NSC and help in the development all of our youth soccer players and volunteer coaches. Watch for further details of programs and new initiatives as the fall season nears.
