Goalkeeping is one of the most dynamic and engaging roles in the game. At NSC Goalkeeping School, players will experience just how fun, fast-paced, and transformational learning the position can be.

The goalkeeping position naturally develops qualities that extend far beyond the field. Through the challenges and rewards of the role, players learn to:

Whether a player becomes a full-time goalkeeper or simply wants to better understand the position, the experience provides valuable life skills and helps shape confident, adaptable individuals. At NSC, we believe the goalkeeping position is not just about protecting the goal — it’s a powerful tool for developing strong, resilient, and growth-minded people.

Following the same model as PDG, sessions are led by NSC’s professional coaching staff, with parent volunteers working alongside them to help facilitate activities and support the learning environment. This collaborative structure allows:

• Players to develop technical and tactical understanding of the position
• Coaches and parent volunteers to learn directly from professional GK coaches
• Teams across the club to benefit from shared knowledge and best practices
• More goalkeepers to participate as more volunteers become involved

Our goal is not only to develop stronger goalkeepers, but to grow goalkeeping knowledge and confidence across the entire club community

To create the most meaningful and personalized learning experience, players will be organized into groups using a tiered development model similar to our Professional Development Games (PDG) program. Our goal is to create learning environments where players feel challenged, supported, and excited to grow — helping them experience how enjoyable, engaging, and rewarding the goalkeeping position can be.

Utilizing coach, parent and player feedback, Groups will be formed based on:

• Age group
• Experience in the goalkeeping position
• Commitment and desire to grow in the role
• Recommendations and ongoing evaluation from our professional coaching staff

This structure ensures each player trains in an environment that provides the appropriate level of challenge, support, and opportunity for development. It also allows our professional coaches to continuously observe and guide players toward the learning environment best suited to their individual growth.

All NSC Development Programs utilize professional coaches and follow US Soccer age-appropriate developmental guidelines to ensure high-quality learning environments. To maintain optimal group sizes and provide meaningful coaching attention, space is limited based on available professional staff and volunteers.
