Another Spring Season brought to a close on a beautiful Saturday morning for our NSC Champions League Finals. With kickoff for the Girls U10 & U12 divisions set for 9:00am, DeFazio Park was alive with anticipation and excitement bright and early as parents, players, coaches, friends and family eagerly prepared for the first whistle.

The Girls U12 division saw a classic matchup of David vs. Goliath as the heavily favorite Panthers faced off against the underdog, and undermanned Aces. While the Aces fought hard and stayed in the game from start to finish, the Panthers, as they were for many teams all spring, were ultimately too much for the Aces to overcome. The Panthers capped off their season with a 3-1 victory to earn the title as the U12 Champions in the Girls Primer Division!

The GU10 Finals were as much similar as they were different in that both games saw two teams give as much effort as one could possibly ask for. However, unfortunately for England, the luck that is often so required in games like these, did not arrive on the day as USA walked away with a hard fought 4-0 victory in the GU10 Championship Division!

The GU10 Primer Division Championship had it all from start to finish. Intensity, hard work, good soccer, scoring chances for both sides, saves, goals and last second drama forcing Over Time!

After nearly an hour of play, Brazil entered the final minute of regulation holding on to a 2-1 lead and praying for the final whistle. However Canada was not done yet and with what was surely to be their last attack of the game, scored on a long distance shot from outside the box that flew past the Brazil GK with only seconds to spare. With momentum on their side heading into extra time, Canada capped off the come back with another long distance shot to the top corner, completing the 3-2 comeback and clinching the championship in GU10 Premier Division!

While the girls had the only OT thriller of the day, the Boys U12 matchup of Spartak Vs. Roma saw the biggest upset of the season! When undefeated Spartak took the field on Saturday they had plenty of reason to believe it was their season to finish on top. Unfortunately for them, Roma showed up focused and determined to write their own championship story.

Roma took a 1-0 lead into the half and never looked back, doubling their lead in the second and shutting Spartak out for a 2-0 victory and championship in the Boys U12 Division!

The BU10 Championship and Premier Divisions finished off the day with Tottenham defeating Stoke City 5-0 and Huddersfield beating Bournemouth  4-0 to take home their respective championship medals!

While there can only be 1 champion in each of our divisions, the Club would like to thank all the players and coaches involved in the 2018 Spring season! Tremendous effort from everyone all year round brought lots of fun, excitement, development and learning to all of our NSC community this spring! We can’t thank you all enough for your continued support. We wish everyone a happy and healthy summer & look forward to seeing you all again for the Fall 2018 Season!!
